Final Notes
19 December 2006
So, my fear have come true. Yesterday was the last day of powering up Ecplise to write some PHP code. Today, I was tasked on a .NET project. Yippee!
With this post, I say goodbye (at least until I got another daily job utilizing PHP) to all of you readers. I’ve put up some stats before this post is published below. Adios!

Day 42: Turning Point?
18 December 2006
Well today (might) be the last day of touching PHP in my current job. News are, we’re going to transfer project into .NET. Finally, feeling that back into .NET is a very-very happy thing to hear!
Day 41: Another Boring Day
16 December 2006
The day starts slow… very slow. I’ve even catched up with the whole week of RSS feeds. After that, I’ve fixed a little bug here and there, added minor functionalities and helps, etc. Basically, nothing worth much done today.
I’m considering resigning on the end of the year. I wanted to start 2007 fresh. I’m still looking forward for several offer letters, but none came up, yet. Maybe I should run for scholarships?
Day 36-40: Bulk Update
15 December 2006
Day 36 and 37 were training days. We ran 4 batches (2 each day), and most of them were smooth. Only the last batch that’s a little slow, caused by a lot of suggestions from the trainees. But overall, things are great. It feels nice to get back to educating people. Education is in my blood!
Day 38 was vacation day. I’ve spent the whole day with my family.
Day 39 was seminar day. I’ve received a lot of insight about Business Intelligence (previously dubbed Data Mining, OLAP, etc.).
Day 40 was back-to-the-office day. I’ve bugfixed several things went wrong during the training, and designed a system for a new proposed project.
Phew!
Day 35: User Training Prep
9 December 2006
We’re going to have a user training on Monday and Tuesday next week. So I’m taking quarter a day off to prep up for the long journey. Plan is, we’re going to have a fun day on Wednesday, Microsoft Event on Thursday, and hopefully, landing a project with Microsoft Indonesia on Friday…
So it’ll be a busy week. If I’m not blogging, that means you guys will have a bunch of updates on next weekend.
On a coding perspective, I haven’t done much since yesterday since no one is hunting for bugs on my code. They’re busy fixing theirs.
Have a fun weekend!
Day 34: Bugtracking
8 December 2006
Well, we’ve been doing bug hunts and bug fixes for several days now, and I guess it would be nice to have a centralized place to keep track of all the bugs we’ve found (and crushed).
Since deadline is close and the project is small, I’ve decided to create an Excel document, containing several fields like controller-action pair, expected result, and the real result. Put it in the server and make it merge-able (i.e. activate the Share Workbook feature).
It’s up and running within minutes, and we have a very nice bug tracking system for use! Ha!
Day 33: Aftershocks
7 December 2006
OK, so I was off to the client place yesterday, and received several feedbacks and minor features to be implemented.
Guess what, everything was done, today. CakePHP, again, saves the day!
After this, there shouldn’t be any other feature additions, even minor ones. That said, we can move on to banging the codes to find more bugs (and fix them).
Day 32: Client Visit
6 December 2006
Well, after 32 days into the project, I’ve finally made it to the client for final presentation. No, I’m not presenting, I’m just watching and taking notes of what change requests are made. Even though it’s final, there are some changes. Minor mostly, but still significant.
Day 31: Client Visit Prep
5 December 2006
I’ve scheduled for a visit to the client for final presentation tomorrow, so I’ve taken half a day off today to prep up for tomorrow. Preparations were mostly presentation, I’ve bought a new pair of shoes (I’ve only one before buying), and planned to have a haircut, but the price was up to nearly twice. I would’ve better find out some other place to do that.
Day 30: Feature Complete!
4 December 2006
Yay, it’s two day before the end of the development cycle, and my code is feature complete!
That means all of the functionality is placed in the code, and what’s left to do is cosmetic changes with stabilizing the code.
